Probably one of the most recognizable faces in the world is that of Jesus of Nazareth, who is also called Jesus Christ. He was born over 2000 years ago. Over those many centuries, billions of people have come to know him and become followers of Christianity, the religion centered on his life and teachings. Therefore, I figured it would be perfect to start this blog with the face of Jesus.
There are many different images depicting Jesus, which bring different emotions. When I look at some, like the one on the right, I feel a sense of peace, I feel at ease. It has a calming affect.
Then there are the images of Jesus like the one on the left below, with the crown of thorns. It grabs me in a way that’s hard to put into words. It’s a very powerful image. Jesus died for our sins. OUR sins. Not his, but OURS. It makes me think of a Bible verse…
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
Chapter 3 Verse 16 of the Gospel of John is one of the most widely quoted verses from the Christian Bible. It sends a powerful message just as this image of Jesus does.
Even for those that don’t believe in God or Jesus, this image must touch some type of emotion. The crown of thorns piercing his skin and the blood running down, dripping to his neck. His eyes looking up.
I hope these images of Jesus Christ here in my first post, along with the images in my future posts, will touch you in a way that they touch me.
How do these images make you feel? Are there other images of Jesus that you are fond of? Feel free to post a link to them along with your comments.
If you’re a blogger, and not shy, I’d also be interested in posting a picture of your face to become part of Blogger Faces. Click here for more info.

I wanted to set the date of this post for December 25, Year 1, but for some reason wordpress would make it 2001 and it would cause an error clicking the link.
Oh well :-)
Blogger Faces: Do you happen to know where I might find an original of the second picture of Jesus? Or perhaps the artist of the picture? I, too, find that image to be quite powerful. Thanks!
