Chances are that you are reading this with the aid of technology that this gentleman played a part in developing. I am creating this post through the use of technology that this man played a part in creating.
I am of course talking about Bill Gates “The Face of Microsoft” who is currently chairman of Microsoft, although he has held several positions over the history of the company, including CEO and chief software architect.
Bill Gates is one of the most well known entrepreneurs when it comes to the computer revolution. Microsoft’s Windows Operating System is the most widely used and millions of computers worldwide use various types of software created by Microsoft.
There are also many critics of Microsoft though, as they feel the tactics employed are anti-competitive. There are many competing products, all vying for a piece of the technology financial pie.
Bill Gates was born William Henry Gates III on 28 October 1955 and the company he founded with Paul Allen in 1975 has grown into a Multi-Billion dollar company. Forbes magazine had listed Gates as the richest person in the world from 1995 to 2007, with recent estimates of his net worth close to US$60 billion.
With this wealth does come philanthropic endeavors and the Gates family created The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000, which is the largest transparently operated charitable foundation in the world. The main goals of the foundation are to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty globally and to expand educational opportunities and access to information technology in the United States.
Whether you love him or hate him, Bill Gates and Microsoft have contributed a lot to this world, with the help of thousands of employees of course, and will always be looked at as the Face of Microsoft and possibly the Face of the Computer Revolution.
