It’s time for another Blogger Faces installment and it’s about blog that I frequent a lot.

John Amato is a professional sax and flutist who has played with or recorded for The Goo Goo Dolls, Ringo Starr, Duran Duran, The Knack, Eddie Money, John Taylor, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagen of Velvet Revolver, Ronnie Montrose, Glen Hughes of Deep Purple and Elliot Easton of The Cars. He’s also the creator of CrooksAndLiars.com, one of the hottest blogs to hit the net. C&L has been featured in the NY Times, Forbes, USA Today, Washington Post and of course the Huffington Post.

I am a big fan of C&L and the various bloggers writing for John Amato’s virtual online magazine… um…I mean blog. It is a progressive/liberal type blog that focuses on a wide range of topics including, Crooks and Liars – Mostly of the political kind.

The writers there have a mix of serious political discussion with an occasional touch of comedic flavor. They do tend to target the republicans the most, but democrats are not out of their cross-hairs completely.

The have plenty of interesting posts spread out through the day, every day of the year, for the millions of visitors they have received. Make sure you become one of those visitors.

Amato and company don’t have the face of crooks or liars, but they’ll definately point out plenty for you.

The 43rd President of The United States of America, and son of the 41st President George H.W. Bush, is of course George Walker Bush. When you say that name today, most people cringe, save for the 30% or so hard core Republicans. What I and many others see in George W. Bush is the face of failure.

This is a President who had approval ratings shoot above 90% shortly after September 11th, 2001 and since then had them drop like a rock where they are currently hovering around 30%.

It’s obvious the post-9/11 approval rating was mostly due to the attacks themselves and Americans wanting to unite around their President, because his ratings prior to 9/11 weren’t that flattering.

Bush II won the 2000 election in a controversial victory. It appeared in exit polls that the state of Florida went to Gore, then to Bush. The closeness of the vote along with reports of voting fraud led to the Florida election recount. The outcome was tied up in courts until it reach the U.S. Supreme Court. On December 9, 2000 in the Bush v. Gore case, the Court reversed a Florida Supreme Court ruling ordering a third count, and stopped an ordered statewide hand recount based on the argument that the different standards that different counting procedures would have used violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The Supreme Court handed the Presidency to George W. Bush and eventually he was inaugurated as President on January 20, 2001 and his current term is scheduled to end on January 20, 2009.

After invading Afghanistan in the hunt for Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda Bush and many of the PNAC boys had other plans. Using September 11th as his reasoning, George W. Bush, along with Dick Cheney and the rest of the Bush Administration, unleashed their push for War with Iraq. Saying Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and fooling the American people into accepting another war. As it turns out, it was all based on LIES.

There were many players that played a key role in leading Bush to the White House and ultimately contributed to the failers of his presidency. An excellent piece of political non-fiction is The Bush Tragedy by Jacob Weisberg. Weisberg traces back through three generations of Bush’s family to ferret out his influences. Weisberg will put it all together with Bush’s hubris, the bad advice from his advisers including Karl Rove and Vice President Dick Cheney, along with the complacency of the American people.

Most Americans look at George W. Bush’s presidency as a comedy, a sketch on Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show” or Stephen Colbert’s “The Colbert Report”, but reality shows it is a pure tragedy. When it comes to Presidents of The United States, history will show George W. Bush as the Face of Failure.

The June 1985 issue of National Geographic Magazine featured one of the most memorable cover photos. This cover photo of a girl who was known only as “Afghan Girl” was shot by National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry.

The green eyes of this girl, who was around 12-13 at the time, captivated the World, yet no one knew who she was.

17 Years after this photo was taken, they finally found out who she was. Her name is Sharbat Gula and she lives in a remote region of Afghanistan with her husband and three daughters. She had no idea how popular that image of her had become.

When I look into her eyes, I see a girl who had been through a lifetime of hardships. What those pretty green eyes have seen in her war torn country, no child should have to see. In this before and after image, you can see the toll her life has taken on her.

Sharbat Gula was originally photographed the Nasir Bagh refugee camp in Pakistan. National Geographic returned in Jan.2002 to this same camp to try and find her. Through various contacts they managed to find her and she was able to tell her story of how she survived life in the refugee camp.

They eventually used iris-scanning technology and face-recognition techniques to remove any doubts that this was the woman who was that girl.

The World finally knew who this girl was and what became of her. We won’t know anything more though, as she will not give another interview and wishes not to be contacted anymore.

I will never forget her face and whenever I see green eyes I am always reminded of her.

Well, this blog IS called Blogger Faces, sooooooo I think it’s time to face up to that and post a blogger face. And not just any blogger I might add.

I am a fan of this blogger/author and not only is she beautiful as you can see from the picture, she has a beautiful mind. If you haven’t figured out who I’m talking about by the photo, it’s none other than Naomi Wolf.

Naomi Wolf is a blogger for HuffingtonPost.com and best selling author. (see some of Naomi’s book titles below) Her writings have also appeared in The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, The New Republic, Glamour, Ms., Esquire, and The New York Times. She also speaks across the country as she did in this video October 11, 2007 at Kane Hall on the University of Washington campus which is one of the most riveting speaking videos I have watched.

When I look at Naomi Wolf’s face, not only do I see a strong, intelligent, beautiful woman, who is a defender of woman’s rights, I see a defender of freedom for all and defender of the constitution.

Many of you may look forward to this day, others may dread it. February 14th, Valentine’s Day is here and it’s more of a day for the ladies out there, although the guys get some special loving too I’m sure.

So to continue with my face theme, I thought we’d go with the special holiday and we’ll take a look at Cupid.

I must admit, to me Cupid looks like a female in a lot of the pictures, but in fact is a HE. Wikipedia can prove it with their very revealing pictures. I know we already had a revealing picture yesterday, so I opted not to go there today.

According to Wikipedia, in Roman mythology, Cupid (Latin cupido) is the god of erotic love and sex. He is equated with the Greek god Eros, and another one of his Latin names Amor (cognate with Kama)

It is said that if Cupid’s arrow hits you, you will fall hopelessly and madly in love with the next person you meet. I know many are waiting, and waiting for that arrow of love to hit them.

When I think of Cupid I think back to when I was a kid and I’d get a bunch of Valentine’s in my little mail box in elementary school. Most had Cupid on them of course. I remember feeling bad for some of the kids that didn’t get as many as the others. I’m not sure why the teachers didn’t make it a rule that if you handed them out you had to give to everyone in the class.

Is Cupid the ‘Face of Love’?

I’m not sure myself. If you are with someone you love, I think you already know the Face of Love. If you don’t have a special someone for this day, you’ll have to wait until you do meet your ’soulmate’ as some like to call it.

What you see when you look at Cupid’s face is up to you, but I hope everyone eventually meets that Face of Love.

When you think Sports, bikini swimsuits are not the type of sports uniforms most think of until it’s time for the annual SI Swimsuit Issue.

Supermodel Marisa Miller adorns the cover of the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which hit newsstands February 12.

Now seeing her…er…face…adorn the cover is something most male sports fans won’t mind. In fact, I’m sure more will be buying this issue as opposed to others.

You’re probably wondering why I choose to blog about her ‘Face’ after my previous, more serious faces I blogged about.

But this is serious… The swimsuit issue will be read by 69 million faces WORLDWIDE. It features Danica Patrick, four athlete wives, 12 NFL cheerleaders, Will Ferrell and Heidi Klum in a special Semi Pro photo shoot and much more.

OK, maybe I just enjoy looking at Marisa Miller. You can’t argue that she has a beautiful face can you? Among other beautiful things.

I just have one question, is it still a swimsuit issue when she’s not wearing both parts of the swimsuit?

With US troops, along with coalition forces, fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, I think the Statue of Liberty needs to show her face on BloggerFaces.com 

Liberty is something most people today take for granted. We have the freedoms we do today because of those that have sacrificed in the past, and those that continue to sacrifice today.

The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. It was designed by sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi.

When I look at the Statue of Liberty, especially this image, I can feel the strength of the people, the strength of freedom. I feel lucky that I have the freedoms that many others in the world don’t.

What do you see when you look at the face of Liberty?

The Statue of Liberty is something all must see in person to get a true feel for her so plan your visit.

Liberty is a symbol of our freedoms, standing tall, after all these many years. We the people should stand tall for freedom and as you look at your fellow man, woman and child, you’ll see liberty in their face.

I’m sure these two faces are quite familar to anyone who has been paying attention to the US primary elections and perfect for my next installment on Blogger Faces.

It has become a close battle for the Democratic nomination between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, the only two Presidential candidates remaining on the Democrat side.

Hillary Clinton had a big lead in the polls months ago, but Barack Obama has slowly clawed his way back. This past weekend, Obama cut into Senator Hillary Clinton’s lead by sweeping primaries and caucuses in Washington state, Nebraska, Louisiana, the Virgin Islands and Maine.

The people are sure excited when it comes to these two. The voting turnout has been great for the Democrats. The recent debate between these two drew a record audience for a debate.

But, what do you see when you look at their face? When you look them in the eyes?

Looking at their faces you can see the years of experience in Hillary’s face. She still has a somewhat youthful look even though the life lines are appearing. I’ll be honest, I’m not really a Hillary supporter, but I admire her drive to achieve something that has never happened before – a female becoming President of the United States of America.

Barack Obama is also seeking something that has never happened before – a black man becoming President. Obama has that youthful energy that coincidently helped Bill Clinton win the Presidency. Personally, I see honesty when I look into Barack’s face.

It is almost guaranteed that the person who wins the Democratic nomination will become President. Only a few delegates separate the two and we may have to wait right till the end to find out who it will be.

One of these Faces WILL become President of the United States of America.

In addition to posting pictures of the faces of many well known people, I’m also looking for images of the maybe not so well known people – Bloggers. The blog is called Blogger Faces, so why not include some pics of the wonderful bloggers out there.

Faces…Everyone has one. Each one unique in it’s own way. Through this blog I will attempt to touch your emotions with some images of, yep you guessed it, FACES.

I love looking at images of people’s faces that spark some type of emotion inside me. Be it happy, sad or angry. Why else do you think emoticons are faces? :-)

Pictures take a moment in time and capture it, to keep for yourself or to share with others.

You always hear those sayings, “I never forget a face.” or “I’m glad I can put a face to the voice (or words) now.” “A picture is worth a thousand words” is what comes to mind for me.

Sometimes a picture will just leave you speechless or take your breath away.

As time goes on I hope to touch every kind of emotion in you as I can with the images I post here on BloggerFaces.com

I started with Jesus Christ, and though I in no way can compare myself to Our Saviour, I thought I’d post my face here.
